I’ve tried many makeup looks over the years with varying degrees of success but I think my makeup has been fairly on point lately and I’m really starting to find what suits me and my ginger-ness. I had a family event to go to last weekend and I loved how my makeup turned out. I think it’s the perfect look for red heads so I’ll share with you what I used.

For my base I used the Nyx Stay Matte but Not Flat foundation in Ivory (I’ve a full review of that here). This one is a good choice for pale ladies and it’s one of the lightest budget foundations I’ve found and sits really well on my skin; it doesn’t make me look like a ghost either. On my brows I’m using Nyx’s Auto Eyebrow Pencil in Auburn. I wasn’t sure about it at first but it’s a lovely natural colour for red heads and is really easy to use.

Smashbox on the rocks palette Ambient Makeup tutorial for redheads

For the eyes I layered up to make sure it was going to last all day. After a coat of Collection’s Lasting Perfection concealer and Maybelline’s Color Tattoo in Creamy Beige, I applied Ambient from my Smashbox On the Rock’s palette and blended it out. There was a time I wouldn’t step outside without a cat eye flick but I’ve been skipping the liner lately and going for a more subtle look. I applied a few coats of black mascara that added a nice contrast against the neutral/gold shades on the lid.

The Body Shop Honey BronzerOn my cheeks I lashed on The Body Shop’s Honey Bronze. This bronzer is gorgeous on pale skin and doesn’t come off too orange. I use the lightest shade and it’s lovely for adding a bit of warmth to my face without over doing it.

Mac Modesty Lipstick Makeup tutorial for redheads

Finally on my lips is my favourite lip combo of the moment MAC’s subculture lip liner and Modesty lipstick. This is the perfect nude for redheads; it’s a warm, dusty pink in the creamsheen formula. I’ve been wearing it nearly everyday!

So that’s what I’ve been using lately, what do you think? Do you have any tips for makep looks for pale skin/red hair? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I love wearing copper tones too, I’ve heard Naked Palette 3 hasn’t gone down too well in the blog world, but as a redhead I’m loving the softer and warmer tones in it!

    • I haven’t had a chance to try it yet but I’d love to give it a go, I don’t think anyone could tear me away from my golds and coppers though!
